ANNOUNCEMENT (October 1):
  • MONDAY (October 3):  Due to the fact that we have finished the coverage for the Finals in the Syllabus, I will not hold classes during this day.  I also have an important appointment with my dentist on this day which was schedule more than a week ago prior to the rescheduling of Final Exams Period.
  • 1Psy1 & 1Psy5 Class Presidents:  Retrieve all your test papers from the Psychology Department on Tuesday 10:00AM.  They are inside a black box at the reception, beside the couch.
  • 1Psy 4:  Please be reminded that our class on Tuesday, October 4, will push through.  Order of agenda: Lecture and Review then Quiz 2.

  • COVERAGE FOR FINAL EXAM:  Consciousness, Motivation, and Emotion.
  • Tips for final exam:  Do NOT forget to bring your test permit.  Scantron Cards will be used so bring both pencils and pens.  Read the chapters of the book very carefully, use the Powerpoint Presentations as your guide, and your quizzes as your reviewer.  Pray for guidance and wisdom!  And... HAVE A GREAT SEM BREAK!!!  :-)

SPECIAL & URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT (September 29):
  • 1Psy5 & 1Psy1:  Quiz 2 (Emotions & Stress) will push through during our regular class schedules on Friday (September 30).
  • 1Psy4:  Quiz 1 (Consciousness & Motivation) will push through on Thursday during our 8:30-10 AM class.  Quiz 2 (Emotions & Stress) will be on Friday, 5:00-6:00PM, Room 317.

 ASSIGNMENT (September 26): 
Submission of Reflection Papers

  • All class presidents, please take charge of this important assignment.
  • Total of 15 individual reflection papers per class (composed of class officers + chosen students in your section) must be submitted by each section.
  • Format:  One-page short bond paper (Letter size = 8.5”x11”), single spaced, Arial font, 11pt font size;  Full Name and Section (flush left) on first 2 lines, “Reflection paper on General Psychology” on 3rd line, contents in paragraph/essay format.
  • Contents:   Significant lessons you learned in our subject, benefits of your experience in class on your future career, and other personal learning/reflection points.
  • Class presidents must collect reflection papers, arrange alphabetically and submit to me on or before September 29 (Thursday), 1:00PM, at the Department of Psychology.

ANNOUNCEMENT (September 17):
  • Ciccarelli Powerpoint presentations for the final period are uploaded on the 4shared site.
  • Quiz 1 on Consciousness and Motivation is on Monday (September 19) & Thursday (September 22).
  • Assigned group (check class list below) on Emotion, prepare for graded recitation on this topic.
  • Quiz 2 on Emotion and Stress is on September 28 (Wednesday) and September 29 (Thursday).

ANNOUNCEMENT (August 29):
  • Group 2 of all sections assigned on the Discussion Themes PDF (download list below) will do their brief oral reports on Characteristics of Stages of Sleep and Detailed Description of Psychoactive Drugs on Wednesday (August 31), Thursday (September 1), and Friday (September 2).  Each student will be given 5-10 minutes to explain specific topics (topic assignments may be either pre-prepared / pre-assigned depending on your group's strategy or impromptu).
  • Brief oral reports are considered graded recitation and will be given bonus points for quizzes or deductions in quiz scores depending on the quality and content of your report.  Prepare accordingly.
  • Reminder:  English is the medium of instruction and communication in UST.  I expect no less than excellence in your well-prepared and researched brief oral reports.
  • Prelim Grades will be given before the week ends.

ANNOUNCEMENT (August 7):

  • Prelim coverage:  Chapters 1-3 of textbook (Intro, Neurological Basis, Sensation & Perception).
  • Prelim test types:  Multiple Choice & True/False (80 POINTS TOTAL)
  • For schedule of exam, please refer to the posted announcements on the Dean's Office bulletin board.
  • For answer key for the Quiz 1, it is available on 4shared for 24 hours (until Monday afternoon).
  • For announcements on Quiz 2, check this site next weekend.

ANNOUNCEMENT (July 6):
  • 1P5 & 1P1:  QUIZ 1 will be on Wednesday, July 13 (COVERAGE: Chapters 1 & 2 of your syllabus).
  • 1P4:  QUIZ 1 will be on Tuesday, July 12 (COVERAGE: Chapters 1 & 2 of your syllabus).


ANNOUNCEMENT (June 20): 
  • I have lost my voice over the weekend.  Thus, I cannot attend our class until I get it back.  I apologize for the inconvenience.  In lieu of classes, please read CHAPTER 1:  The Science of Psychology of your textbook.  SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:  If our class is in between your other classes, you need to quietly stay inside the classroom and study Chapter 1 as instructed above.  No loitering.  If our class is your 1st for the day, you may arrive later in time for your 2nd class.  If our class is your last class for the day, you may go home early.
  • CLASS PRESIDENTS:  Please be guided accordingly.  You will be held responsible for ensuring discipline in the class to not disrupt other classes going on in adjacent rooms. 
  • ASSIGNMENT (to be submitted on June 27, Monday):  Go to http://www.apa.org/about/division/index.aspx and study the Divisions in Psychology according to the American Psychological Association.  Choose 1 or 2 divisions that interest you and which you may pursue after graduation (explain in detail).  Then choose 1 division that interests you the least and which you cannot see yourself pursuing as a career in the future (explain in detail).  This must be printed on 1-2 pages of 8.5"x11" bond paper.  Your name (Last Name, First Name, M.I.) must be on the 1st line, flush left, on page 1 while your section must be on the 2nd line, flush left, below your name, on page 1.
  • Download Discussion Themes below with information on the themes for groups of students. These themes correspond to certain chapters in your syllabus.  As discussed in class, each student under each Discussion Theme shall be assigned a Specific Discussion Topic which he/she should present in class for 10-15 minutes.  Assignment of Specific Discussion Topic shall be given at least 1 week prior to scheduled discussion in class.  Discussion/presentations must be interactive (i.e., demonstrations, learning exercises, short clip presentation, etc.).
  • CLASS SECRETARIES:  New Deadline of submission of Seat Plan is MONDAY, June 27, 5:00pm.
